Brian Taylor

Doctor of Letters, 2010

To say it’s been a busy few years in Scottish politics would be a massive understatement.

We’ve had a constant cycle of elections and referendums, leaving the ever-changing political landscape in the country feeling both busy and fast-moving.

The man who’s covered every twist and turn of this journey for BBC Scotland has been Political Editor Brian Taylor.

Brian’s one of the best known and highly respected journalists working in Scotland today.

He started his career in newspapers and joined the BBC in 1985, co-presenting the political programme ‘Left, Right and Centre’. He would go on to become Political Correspondent and then, of course, Political Editor.

Brian’s written two books about the Scottish Parliament and has co-written several more.

He has lectured on politics and identity in Washington, Stockholm, Madrid, Edinburgh, London and throughout Germany.

He was awarded a Doctor of Letters by Abertay in 2010.
