By Train: Dundee Station

We are ten minutes' short walk from Dundee train station. Taxis are available outside its main entrance and it takes about 10 minutes to get here by cab.

Travel and train timetable information is available from National Rail Enquiries. Tickets can be bought directly from sites such as Scotrail and London North Eastern Railway (LNER).

Buying Tickets in Advance

Booking train tickets days, weeks or months beforehand can mean you save money.

Using pre-booking sites like https://splitticketing.trainsplit.com/ or http://www.raileasy.co.uk/cheap-train-tickets can mean you spend much less than buying them at the station on the day you want to travel.

You collect your tickets from any train station using the same card you paid with, so if you fly in to the UK, you can get your tickets from the station you use to travel to Abertay.

By Bus

We are just ten minutes' short walk from Dundee's central bus station - called the Seagate Bus Station - and near to bus stops on many routes.

By Plane

There are three major international airports you can fly into: Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. 

Edinburgh is the closest, but all of them are less than a two-hour drive from Dundee. Dundee has an airport which operates two domestic flights to and from London Heathrow Airport per day, so flying here from London is an option.

Edinburgh Airport

Edinburgh is the UK's 6th busiest airport with 38 airlines flying 221 routes from/to 157 destinations worldwide. You can get to Abertay from Edinburgh Airport by train, bus or car in less than 2 hours. 

• Edinburgh Airport to Abertay by Train - you can get to Edinburgh Gateway station by tram from right outside the airport terminal. Or you can get a tram or bus into Edinburgh city centre and get a train from either Waverley or Haymarket stations. The time it takes depends on where you leave from. We are a short walk from Dundee train station, or 10-15 minutes by taxi. Taxis can be found outside the station.
• Edinburgh Airport to Abertay by Coach - this takes just over 1 hour and 20 minutes, and costs around £15 for an advance ticket. You can also travel with the Ember Electric Bus service. You need to book both ahead of time.
• Edinburgh Airport to Abertay by Car - this takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes. If you are driving, there is the Bell Street carpark next door, and other city centre car parks nearby. 
• Edinburgh Airport to Abertay by Taxi - taxis cost approximately £150. There are taxis outside the airport but we recommend pre-booking a taxi transfer as that can save you money. 
• Edinburgh Airport to Abertay on Foot - this takes 20 hours according to Google maps. You might want to adjust that figure depending on the weather and the route you choose. We wouldn't recommend it unless you have at least 2 days at your disposal. 

Dundee Airport

Dundee Airport is the most convenient fly-in destination for the University, and operates 2 flights every weekday to/from London Heathrow with a reduced service at weekends. You can book via the Loganair website. 

Taxis are available outside the Airport and should take about ten minutes to get to the University. You can also walk, which takes about 45 minutes, or it is approximately 15 minutes by bicycle.
