Outgoing Students

We offer lots of exciting opportunities for our students who wish to spend a period of time studying abroad.

Please note, all overseas mobility and exchange for the autumn/fall semester 2020 has been cancelled due to the continued uncertainty around travel restrictions and social distancing rules. For the spring semester 2021, overseas mobility and exchange applications will be opening on Monday 14th September 2020, with a deadline to complete by Friday 16th October 2020. These applications will be processed and approved subject to travel restrictions and social distancing rules, and will only be confirmed once the situation at host institutions can be assessed.

Make the most of your time at Abertay by taking advantage of the opportunity to study or work abroad. You’ll gain invaluable experience to help give you an edge when applying for jobs. There are a range of options, including semester/academic year long studies abroad, work placements, and summer schools. Exchanges are open to students in year 2 or 3, though certain subjects may have the option in year 4.

Erasmus vs. Study Abroad/Exchange

Erasmus is a student exchange programme funded by the European Commission. Since the programme began in 1987, over 3 million students from 33 countries have participated in Erasmus.

As an Abertay student, you can study at one of Abertay's Erasmus partner universities for a year or semester. You’ll experience life in another European country, meet students from all over the world, and pick up some language skills.

At Abertay, we also have exchanges set up with our partner universities outside of the Erasmus programme, with current opportunities for students in the USA.

Check our full list of partners to see where you can study, and find out how to apply.
