It's a busy time in their lives, and also a bit scary. Leaving home for the first time, and starting university is a huge step. So your student might need your help to get their accommodation sorted out. Let's face it, they've got a lot to do and think about right now.

This depends on the hall your child chooses. Some ask for a deposit or a booking fee, others need a month's rent in advance.
This depends on the residence they choose, and how long they decide to stay.
Most bills are included in the rent – gas, electricity, heating, water, basic insurance and wifi. If they watch TV on any device, they will need a TV licence. Students in Halls don’t need to pay council tax.
None of the halls provide catered accommodation, so they will need to sort out their own food.
There are supermarkets close to all our Halls, and many cafes, restaurants and takeaways nearby. Don't worry, they won’t starve!
Many students at Abertay are local and live at home. But even some local students choose to live away from home and halls can be a good way to do that.
Apart from the costs, there are pros and cons which you and your child need to consider if living away from home is an option.
