Studying Sport and Exercise at Abertay gives you the flexibility and springboard you need to turn your passion for sport and exercise into a career.
Our sports degrees are very practical, blending academic study with industry experience, allowing you to tailor your degree as your interests develop. Work placements and internships help you apply your knowledge in real-world situations.
Whatever you choose to do career-wise, your studies are designed to dovetail neatly into your future employment plans.

Flexible Sport Degree Pathways
There are five flexible courses covering different specialisms in sport.
If you haven’t worked out exactly what you want to do, this is a great way to start. Our two-year foundation approach means you can keep your options open until you’ve learnt more about what really interests you.
The first two years follows our BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise core curriculum*. This means you’ll learn what you want to focus on, and your degree will suit your own interests and career aspirations. And, of course, we’ll advise you every step of the way.
At the end of Year 2, you'll choose a pathway leading to one of the following:
If you join Abertay from college, you can often join in Year 3, which means you can choose your specialism from the get-go.
*Excluding BA (Hons) Sport and Management, and BSc (Hons) Fitness, Nutrition and Health.*You can also choose BA (Hons) Sport and Management or BSc (Hons) Fitness, Nutrition and Health, which are separate from the pathways above.
BA (Hons) Sport and Management
We aim to prepare you thoroughly for a management career in sport and organised physical activity.
Work placements are key and we encourage you to be entrepreneurial, show initiative and apply your expertise as much as possible. Our Sport and Management degree helps you gain the management, social and vocational skills needed to start your career as a business-savvy sport professional.

Sports @ Abertay
Sport and physical activity at Abertay University is as much a part of university life as attending lectures and tutorials. We offer a wide range of clubs from the traditional sports such as rugby and football to the more diverse ones such as dance.
