The University was founded in 1888 as the Dundee Technical Institute, and is the best modern university in Scotland. It has recently been nominated in the category of Best University in Great Britain at a major higher education awards ceremony.
Abertay is a not-for-profit, publicly funded university, situated at the heart of the city of Dundee - the fourth largest city in Scotland, and also the sunniest.
Dundee lies on the north bank of the beautiful river Tay, which feeds into the North Sea. Scotland's beautiful countryside and scenery attracts both local people and visitors from all over the world. Dundee is the perfect base from which to explore the country’s rich and varied landscape.
There are only 50 miles separating Dundee and Scotland’s capital city, Edinburgh. It takes approximately one hour to travel there by road or rail routes. Dundee is also just 15 miles from the historic town of St Andrews, the Home of Golf.

In an exclusive partnership, Perfect World work collaboratively with world-renowned computer games education institute Abertay University to offer Chinese students the Master of Professional Practice in Games Development Orientation Programme (MPPOP), which provides a pathway for entry into the Masters of Professional Practice in Games Development (MProf) programme in Dundee. The aim of the MPPOP is to select and nurture students from different disciplines including design, production, arts and programming to work together in development teams, with help from global experts.
The programme started in April 2017.
