The Ada Scotland Festival celebrates inclusion in computing and technology. It is named after Ada Lovelace, a pioneer of computer science. Abertay hosts a day for pupils to try computing, cybersecurity, ethical hacking and video games, and to meet women working in the sector. The aim is to encourage more girls into tech and to help pupils see themselves in these subjects.
Last year more than 70 pupils from eight schools took part.
The day is for female and female-identifying pupils in P6 to S2. Schools book as a group, with their own staff supervising throughout.
A mix of workshops, talks and showcases. The programme is expected to include:
Cybersecurity and ethical hacking sessions
Games development workshops
Design workshops
Accessibility in games
Talks from women working in the tech industry
Student showcases and time to talk to current Abertay students about their experience
A careers fair with students, university teams and industry partners
We will confirm the full programme closer to the day.
