These are loans and grants to support living costs of students from England, Wales or Northern Ireland. They are in addition to any tuition fee loan you may have received.
What you can apply for depends on whether you live in England, Wales or Northern Ireland.
It's worth noting you may also be entitled to the Abertay RUK bursary worth £1,000 per year and eligibility for this bursary is assessed on household income.
If you're an English student you can apply for a maintenance loan which will have to be paid back when you begin earning a certain amount per year.
This is a supplement to your tuition fee loan offered by Student Finance England which covers your tuition fee costs and is given as a means to help with your living costs.
To identify what you can apply for, please use the student finance calculator on the UK Government website.
If you're a Welsh student you can apply for a maintenance loan (which will have to be paid back when you begin earning over £21,000 pear year). You can view more information about repayment on the Student Loans Company website.
As a Welsh student, and if your household income is below £50,020, you can also apply for a Welsh Government Learning Grant. Providing you complete your course and there's no change to your household circumstances, this grant doesn't need to be paid back.
You may also be entitled to apply for a Special Support Grant. Unlike the Welsh Government Learning Grant, the Special Support Grant will not affect your entitlement to a Maintenance Loan (whereas the Welsh Government Learning Grant will).
Visit the Student Finance Wales website for more information.
If you're a Northern Irish student you can apply for a maintenance loan which will have to be paid back when you begin earning over a certain amount per year.
It's important to remember the amount you draw from a Maintenance Loan will affect your entitlement to a Maintenance Grant, but not a Student Support Grant.
If your household income is £41,065 or less, you may also be entitled to receive a Maintenance Grant. The thresholds for the Student Support Grant and the Maintenance Grant are the same.
Visit the Student Finance Northern Ireland website for more information.
