Scottish students undertaking a degree in Nursing/Mental Health Nursing must apply to the Student Awards Agency for Scotland for the Nursing and Midwifery Students’ Bursary Scheme (NMSB). A non means-tested bursary is available.
EU students undertaking a Nursing degree in Scotland will have the cost of their tuition fees met by the Scottish Government.
Generally, the Nursing and Midwifery Students’ Bursary Scheme (NMSB) is not available to EU undergraduate students. However, if you have lived in the UK or have immediate family living or working in the UK, please check the SAAS eligibility criteria or contact our Advisory Service if you require any assistance.
From 2017 students from the rest of the UK undertaking a degree in Nursing/Mental Health Nursing in Scotland must apply to the student finance organisation relevant to where you live (England, Northern Ireland, Wales) for a tuition fee loan and a living cost loan.
Alternatively, please review our undergraduate how to apply page for more information.
If you are an international student from outside of the EU, then you are likely to pay overseas tuition fee rates and will not be entitled to help with tuition fees or living costs. You will also be expected to have sufficient funds available to cover your tuition fees and living costs prior to starting each academic year.
As an undergraduate student, we understand that you’ll want to know what tuition fee you’ll need to pay in advance. This is why we offer a fee guarantee – the published tuition fee at the time of entry is the same you will pay for each year of your undergraduate degree.
You can view our all-encompassing guide to applying for study as an international student here.
You can apply for funding through the Student Awards Agency for Scotland.
