Location of delivery: Abertay University, Bell Street, Dundee
Composition of the programme: 120 SCQF (Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework) credits in each academic year, delivered in modules of 20 credits each, with 3 modules taken in term 1, and 3 in term 2 each year. A 40 credit dissertation is included in the final year. There are also opportunities to study Law abroad for a term and to undertake a work placement.
In order to widen students’ employability skills, students in their final year may also undertake certain business-related, criminology and sociology modules.
Contact hours and workload: Each academic year typically requires 1200 hours of student effort; on average across the 4 years of this programme, 24% of that time is in lectures, seminars and similar activities; the remainder is independent study.
Assessment methods: This programme uses exams, class tests, coursework, presentations, mooting, and a range of practical oral and written assessments which develop students’ ability to present sophisticated arguments and complex information. Examinations or class tests feature in the majority of accredited subjects in Years 1-3.

Developments in the discipline: The LLB degree is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland who may, from time to time, review core content of this degree. The core modules listed above comply with the current requirements (October 2022) of these professional bodies. The Faculty of Advocates also accredits core modules but will require entrants to pass further subjects when seeking admittance to Faculty.
