Biography

I’ve been a lecturer in the Division of Sociology since 1996. Prior to this I was a research student and part-time tutor at Glasgow Caledonian University.

I’m primarily interested in social and cultural theory, and the relationship between popular culture, hegemonic and counter-hegemonic discourses.  More generally, I’m interested in the role culture plays in framing socio-ideological accounts of the world.

I teach on a range of modules within criminology and sociology including lectures on Durkheim, Gender, Crime and Culture.

I am currently involved in research on representations of gender within key crime dramas.
