I am Lecturer in Sport Development and Coaching. My practical experiences in sport development and coaching help to inform my teaching practice. I am currently a Swimming Coach who is recognised as a Coach Practioner by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity. Previously, I have worked in sport development as a club development co-ordinator.
My principal research interests are in sports development and sports coaching, and where the two intersect. I have previously focused on athletes’ perceptions of coaches based on their gender and the experiences of female coaches’. I also have an interest in voluntary sports clubs and athletes use of social media. I am currently a Research Associate of the Observatory for Sport in Scotland.
I completed my PhD in 2017 at Abertay University. This work used a mixed methods approach to explore the experiences of female sport coaches. Prior to my PhD I studied BSc (Hons) Physical Activity and Health at Abertay University. Previously, I have worked at Loughborough College and Edge Hill University as a lecturer.
