Biography

  • BA (Hons) in Economics - Universidad Catolica Boliviana 

Research interests: Economic Growth and Development; Governance and Corruption; Inequality and Income Distribution; Financial Markets and Institutions.

Gonzalo joined Abertay University in September 2015 as Head of the Division of Accounting, Finance and Economics. Career: University of St Andrews (Lecturer in Economics and Finance), University of Manchester (Lecturer in Macroeconomics; Teaching Fellow), Central Bank of Bolivia (Deputy Head of Payment Systems; Analyst in the Open Market Operations Division). Awards and Honours: Overseas Research Scholarship (ORS), Chevening Scholarship, Academic Excellence Scholarship, Certificate of Merit from the Senate of Bolivia. Professional bodies: member of the Council of the Scottish Economic Society (SES), member of the Royal Economic Society (RES) and member of the Bolivian Society of Economists (SEBOL).  He has published in journals such as the European Economic Review, the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization and the Journal of International Money and Finance. He has done consultancy work for the Department for International Development (DFID).
