I am Reader in Digital Cultures and the author of "Performativity in Art, Literature and Videogames" (Palgrave MacMillan 2017). This book’s title names many of my main research interests, and develops a media studies approach to performance in digital space and time. I am also interested in youth cultures and internet studies. I have served as a jurist on the Independent Games Festival’s Award for Narrative Excellence, and was Principal Investigator on a report on loot boxes for the UK Department for Culture, Media, and Sport.
Currently, I am Co-Investigator for the CoSTAR National Laboratory and the GAME-ER Horizon Europe research project. I am also serving as an external examiner for University College London's Media Arts MA programme.
I have several completed PhD and Masters degree supervisions, and currently supervise 4 PhD and 2 MPhil projects.
