Abertay achieves gold award in Armed Forces Employer Recognition Scheme

Abertay staff members receive the award

Abertay University was among 16 Scottish employers to be recognised at the 2022 Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Awards.

Held at Stirling Castle, the ceremony was hosted by the Highland and Lowland Reserve Forces' and Cadets' Association, with Abertay joined by a diverse range of organisations and companies including some from Councils, the NHS, Chambers of Commerce, and charities.

Representing the highest badge of honour, Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Awards are awarded to those that employ and support those who serve, veterans and their families. A total of 156 organisations received the award this year across the UK.

To win an award from the Ministry of Defence, organisations must show that they provide 10 extra paid days leave for Reservists and have supportive HR policies in place for Veterans, Reserves, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers and spouses and partners of those serving in the Armed Forces.

They must also advocate the benefits of supporting those within the Armed Forces community, by encouraging others to sign the Armed Forces Covenant and engage in the Employer Recognition Scheme.
