Abertay senior lecturer awarded prestigious fellowship

An Abertay University lecturer has been made a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA).

Senior Lecturer Dr Rebecca Wade of the School of Applied Sciences joins a global community of around 30,000 Fellows who have received the same honour from the Society.

She said: “It is wonderful to be welcomed into such a prestigious Society.

"As the only RSA Fellow based at Abertay I hope to raise awareness of the RSA within Abertay and equally to enhance awareness of Abertay within the RSA community." - Dr Rebecca Wade

The RSA is a highly esteemed organisation which has a lot of influence within the UK and globally. It’s really brilliant to be welcomed as part of that global community.”

Dr Wade joined Abertay University in 2002, and previously worked at the University of Illinois, USA.

She teaches on the Civil & Environmental Engineering, and the Environmental Science & Technology programmes. This year she will take part in a Women in STEMM Antarctic voyage to raise awareness of climate change and gender equality issues.

One of Dr Wade’s notable projects was investigating water and ecosystem management in urban areas in Brazil. This was linked to her wider research on urban green infrastructure, sustainable water management and river restoration. She is passionate about working across disciplines and sectors to deliver enhanced environmental and health benefits through sustainable landscape management.
