Following a generous gift of £50,000 from Abertay Chancellor Lord Cullen (pictured), a new fund has been created for PhD and Masters Research students.
The Chancellor’s Fund will enhance the Abertay student experience and help build its research community by raising student profiles and expanding their professional development opportunities. It can be used to assist students in meeting expenditure relating to their specific area of research and can cover costs including travel, conference attendance and networking opportunities.
"I wanted to do something to encourage and support the student research community."
Lord Cullen said: “I have very much enjoyed my association with Abertay over the last ten years.
"I wanted to do something to encourage and support the student research community. I am delighted to establish the Chancellor’s Fund, creating a distinct way of supporting PhD and Masters students.”
Principal Professor Nigel Seaton said:
“Lord Cullen’s establishment of the Chancellor’s Fund is a thoughtful and generous gift to the university.
"The Chancellor’s Fund will provide support to generations of PhD and Masters students, and will help us live up to our aspiration to offer transformational opportunities to everyone who has the ability to benefit from Abertay’s approach to university education”
