Careers in Games: Programming and Maths

Graduates from our Computer Games Technology (CGT) and Computer Game Applications Development (CGAP) programmes leave us with games-oriented mathematic and programming degrees which are highly sought after by the computer games and software development industries.

Both programmes were created in response to industry needs; CGT for the acute shortage of game programmers within the industry and CGAD to meet demand for first-rate game and computer programmers with a knowledge of developing applications using middleware such as game engines.

We work very closely with leading developers and game studios such as 4J Studios, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Microsoft and Ruffian Games, making graduates from these industry-accredited courses highly employable from the get-go.

Life after graduation

The Destination of Leavers Survey is conducted by Abertay's Career Service and gathers information about what our graduates have been getting up to within 6 months of their graduation.

The early careers of 2019 graduates from our CGT and CGAD programmes are off to a flying start, and we couldn't be more excited for them.

87% were in employment or full-time study 6 months after graduation.

Here's a selection of the professional roles they secured soon after graduating and the organisations that recruited them.

Further down the line

Our graduates have achieved great things in their careers to date, each one having carved a career path bespoke to them. Take a look at what some of them are up to and be inspired to reflect on what you'd like to gain from studying at Abertay.
