Abertay University is an internationally-renowned hub for higher education and research.
Offering courses from two academic faculties
Located in Dundee, Scotland, the University was first in the world to offer degrees in computer games in 1997, and is now a global leader in the sector, ranked number one in Europe for undergraduate games courses and in the world top dozen at postgraduate level (Princeton Review).
In China, Abertay is the only UK University to partner with entertainment giant, Perfect World, offering a bespoke Masters in Games Development at their Pixseed hub in Beijing.

Students are taught to think like as computer hacker, and our Masters programme is certified by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), part of GCHQ
Formed in 1888 as Dundee Institute of Technology, Abertay has now had full University status for almost 30 years.
The campus includes the historic Old College buildings of Dundee Business School, scenes of crime teaching facilities and boasts the UK’s first Centre for Excellence in Computer Games Education.

Both Abertay and Dundee are undergoing big changes.
Abertay continues to invest in the infrastructure to enhance the students experience including the £4M redevelopment of the library and a newly upgraded suit of science labs in recent years.
Dundee is the UK’s only UNESCO City of Design, and is currently undergoing a £1bn waterfront redevelopment, including the launch of the iconic £80M V&A Dundee Museum of Design in 2018, of which Abertay is a founding partner.
The city is also very affordable, with living expenses 30% cheaper than London and a flight to the capital taking just 90 minutes.

Dundee has more sunshine hours than any other in Scotland and is close to both Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as being surrounded by glorious countryside and hills.

Dr Boon-Seang Chu is a senior lecturer in Food Science with a particular interest in food emulsions, natural food ingredients, nutrient delivery systems, food digestion, and food waste valorisation and management.
Dr Chu leads on the delivery of teaching on a number of modules: Safe Food Handling, Food Properties and Functionalities, and Current Topics in Food. Dr Chu also sits on the editorial board of several journals including Food Quality & Safety and International Journal of Food Processing Technology.
“Our food degrees offer a range of relevant real-life work experience, ensuring our graduates are fully prepared for the jobs market.
Students learn in our newly refurbished science labs and we are the only Scottish university with an industry-standard Consumer Experience Laboratory, made up of 12 climatically controlled booths for sensory analysis.”

3. If you're considering applying to more than one university in the UK for undergraduate (UG) level studies, we recommend submitting your application through UCAS, the UK's University & Colleges Admissions Service. There is a helpful glossary to terms on their website to help make the application process as easy as possible.
Although the early decision deadline for UCAS applications is January, we will accept applications from students after this date, either via UCAS or through direct application.

Abertay graduates work with companies all over the world and many of our alumni have gone on to achieve national and international success.
We have around 800 students from outside the UK, including China, India, Pakistan, South-east Asia, Africa, North and South America and the European Union.
Liam Wong (2/6)
Abertay was instrumental. From graduating at Abertay to becoming Ubisoft’s youngest director in the space of two and a half years, everything I knew about working in teams, leadership, planning, presenting my work and giving direction was picked up from my experience at Abertay.
Graduate Liam Wong earned a degree in BA (Hons) Computer Arts and became the youngest director at the largest games development studio in the world, Ubisoft, within two years of graduation. Liam was also highlighted in Forbes magazine's 20 under 30 list.

Abertay gave me a significant edge when pursuing a job in the game industry.
During my MProf we were given the chance to work in game development teams, which offered me precious opportunities to learn, understand and improve my cooperation skills with developers from around the world, who had different skills to a game designer.
Isabella Wang is an MProf Games Development graduate, who became the Chief Designer at the international games company FunPlus Games within 2 years after graduation, based in Beijing.

I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do on my work placement, but I spoke to my tutors about food writing and they put me in touch with a graduate who had done the same course as me eight years previously.
He was working in London for a company that produced a supermarket magazine - I did a two-month placement with them and the week before I graduated, they offered me a job.
Linzi Brechin is Assistant Food Editor at a national UK supermarket magazine, having graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Food and Consumer Sciences in 2012.
