Undergraduate

Applicants from South Africa typically apply with their National Senior Certificate (with Matriculation endorsement). We have benchmarked the Matric certificate to our Scottish Higher requirements as follows:

Average Grade

AABB Programme

6655

ABBB Programme

6555

BBBB Programme

5555

Please see our individual course pages to ascertain which Scottish Higher course tariff you are applying for.

For students holding A-Level or International Baccalaureate qualifications, due to the nature of Scotland’s four year undergraduate degree, many are able to enter directly into the second year of their programme, provided they meet minimum entry and essential subject requirements.

At A-Level these are typically CCC for first year entry, and BBB for second year entry, while for IB, first year entry is typically offered to applicants with a minimum score of 28, and second year to those applicants with 34 and above.

There are some programme variances, so please see the course pages for full entry requirements including essential subjects.

If you hold alternative qualifications to those mentioned above, please get in touch.

Postgraduate

Applicants will typically require a Bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 2.6, or 60% in a subject related to their chosen course.

English language requirements

All courses at Abertay University are taught in English. If the UK Government has not listed your country as exempt from this requirement, you will need to demonstrate that you meet our English language requirements.

Typically applicants from South Africa demonstrate their English proficiency via an IELTS exam (minimum overall score of 6.0), however please see English Language Requirements for the full list of accepted qualifications and further details.
