Police Scotland: Cyber & Fraud Unit

Police Scotland: Cyber & Fraud Unit logo

Launched in April 2025 and led by Detective Chief Superintendent Andy Patrick, Police Scotland’s Cyber and Fraud Unit (CaFU) was established to modernise the response to cyber and economic crime. CaFU is responsible for preventing and investigating fraud, cybercrime, economic and financial offences. The unit consolidates specially trained police officers and staff from Cybercrime, Digital Forensics, Economic Crime Investigation, Cyber and Fraud Harm Prevention, and the Policing in a Digital World Programme. Through developed partnerships, CaFU also draws on the expertise and resources of organisations such as NCA, HMRC, private sector and industry partners, subject matter experts, and other UK forces. Together with the use of advanced technology, CaFU provides an enhanced police response to fraud and cybercrime, better supports victims through improved investigations, and provides bespoke training for officers and staff to secure vital digital evidence and counter criminal methods across Scotland.
