DigiTay is the Tay Cities Region Deal Digital Skills Project, funded by the Scottish Government as part of the Regional Skills and Employability Development Programme. Working across Angus, Dundee, Fife and Perth & Kinross, DigiTay invests in inclusive digital skills, education, business support and workforce development across the region.

Digital Work Experience Programme

Gain Real-World Digital Experience

Funded by the Scottish Government through DigiTay, the Tay Cities Region Deal Digital Skills Project, the Digital Work Experience Programme supports the Tay Cities Digital Ecosystem by connecting emerging digital talent with employers across the region. It helps students gain valuable industry experience while enabling businesses to develop their future workforce and strengthen the region's digital skills pipeline.

For Students

Kick-start your digital career through a fully supported work placement with an employer based in the Tay Cities Region.

The programme provides eligible students and recent graduates with the opportunity to gain valuable industry experience, develop technical and professional skills, build confidence and expand their professional networks through technology-focused placements with employers across the region.

Eligible Students

Applicants must:

Be currently enrolled at, or have graduated within the last 12 months from, Abertay University, Dundee & Angus College, Fife College, Perth UHI, the University of Dundee or the University of St Andrews.
Be studying, or have recently completed, a digital, data or technology-related course.

Placements are typically 6 to 8 weeks in duration and can take place in a range of sectors where digital and technology skills are required.

For Employers

Looking to develop your future workforce while supporting regional talent?

The DigiTay Digital Work Experience Programme provides funding of up to £3,000 per placement to help employers create technology-focused opportunities for students.

Businesses do not need to be technology companies. However, placements must provide opportunities for students to develop digital, data or technology-related skills.

Who Can Apply?

Eligible Employers

Employers must:

Be based within Angus, Dundee, Fife or Perth & Kinross.
Offer a new placement opportunity.
Provide a named supervisor or mentor.
Hold appropriate employer insurance.
Use funding exclusively towards placement salary costs.

Eligible Students

Students must:

Coming Soon: Digital Travel & Tourism Accelerator

Helping Tourism Businesses Embrace Digital Innovation

Funded by the Scottish Government through DigiTay, the Tay Cities Region Deal Digital Skills Project, the Digital Travel & Tourism Accelerator will support tourism and hospitality businesses across the Tay Cities Region to adopt digital innovation, improve productivity and become more competitive in a rapidly evolving visitor economy.

The programme will be delivered by CodeBase on behalf of DigiTay, providing tailored support to help businesses explore new technologies, strengthen their digital capabilities and accelerate innovation.

What to Expect

Support for around 100 tourism and hospitality businesses.
One-to-one business support and mentoring.
Guidance on digital technology adoption and innovation.
Grants of £1,000 to £2,000 towards suitable technology solutions.

Curriculum Development Programme

Creating the Next Generation of Digital Talent

Funded by the Scottish Government through DigiTay, the Tay Cities Region Deal Digital Skills Project, the Curriculum Development Programme is investing in new and enhanced digital learning opportunities across colleges and universities in the Tay Cities Region.

Working with employers and education providers, the funded projects will enhance learning opportunities in areas including cyber security, artificial intelligence, software development, operational technology and emerging digital technologies. The programme will strengthen the region’s digital talent pipeline through innovative, employer-informed education and aims to support up to 750 learners.
