With a background in software development and engineering, Alan has held various roles in the private sector, including game development at DMA design, known for creating popular games like Lemmings and Grand Theft Auto. He has also worked on IT contracts with THUS, NHS, and several FTSE 100 companies in the financial sector.
His tenure in Local Government and management of smart cities programs in DCC has provided him with an advanced understanding of data, enhancing the data analytics capabilities of council organizations and partners. As a keen technologist, he possesses an understanding of future economic opportunities to grow jobs and promote green recovery, especially in sectors such as Fintech & Digital Financial Services, Data and AI, and Creative Tech & Media.
With Prince2 certification, Alan has honed his project management skills and has worked as a project manager. He is also a digital champion with a passion for global markets and current affairs, providing inspiration and insights in his daily role.
Currently at Perth and Kinross council, Alan is dedicated to working toward a green transition, focusing on digital infrastructure and its ecosystem, harbour operations, and the development of key sites across the council.
Perth and Kinross Council is the local authority for Perth and Kinross, one of the 32 council areas of Scotland. Geographically It is bordered by Highland and Aberdeenshire to the north, Angus, Dundee, and Fife to the east, Clackmannanshire to the south, and Stirling and Argyll and Bute to the west. Geographically the area is split by the Highland Boundary Fault into a more mountainous northern part and a flatter southern part.
