Our Psychology with Development and Education undergraduate degree is accredited by the British Psychological Society. Our teaching is underpinned by evidence from developmental and educational psychology and based on real-world child development. As well as a broad introduction to psychology, you'll receive specialist training on child development, giving you the tools to work with children and young adults. This course is open to first year students or direct entrants into second year.
Taught by our experts within the Child and Youth lab, we equip our students with an understanding of children’s minds, emotions, and behaviour at different stages of childhood and adolescence.
We also work with child and education experts and practitioners who add their expertise and advice to our teaching. This also includes a part-module on language development, based on the textbook 'Language Development' by Patricia J. Brooks and Vera Kempe (Abertay University). Profs Brooks and Kempe are currently working on the second edition, expected to be published in 2023/24.
At a graduate level we provide research teaching in Postgraduate Research Degrees. We offer PhD, MPhil and Masters by Research opportunities supported by expert supervision within a vibrant and multidisciplinary Graduate School.
