People using social work, social care and children and young people services increasingly expect the people who support them to help them live digitally enabled lives. There are huge benefits of using digital technology to deliver care and support but there are also risks. As digitally enabled care services continue to grow and evolve, it’s more important than ever that everyone is skilled and empowered to practice safely and securely online. With more digitally enabled devices going into people’s homes to support their care, it’s essential the workforce understands how to use these devices safely and keep them maintained and secure, just as they would with any other equipment. They don’t need to be digital specialists, just understand the basics and help to keep people safe
The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is the regulator for the social work, social care and children and young people workforce in Scotland. Their work means the people of Scotland can count on social services being provided by a trusted, skilled and confident workforce. The SSSC protect the public by registering workers, setting standards for their practice, conduct, training and education and by supporting their professional development.
