EU Settlement Status

EU, EEA, Swiss citizens and their family members who were living in the UK by 31 December 2020 may still be eligible to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme.

The main deadline to apply was 30 June 2021, but exceptions apply for joining family members and those upgrading from pre-settled to settled status.
If successful, applicants receive either settled or pre-settled status, allowing them to live, work, and access services in the UK.
Irish citizens and those with indefinite leave to remain do not need to apply.
Employers can verify status using the Home Office online service with a share code and date of birth.

EUSS Family Permit

The EUSS Family Permit enables eligible family members to travel to the UK to join their EU, EEA or Swiss relative who holds settled or pre-settled status under the EUSS.

To apply, you must be at least 18 years old and work in academia or research. Applicants typically need an endorsement from a recognised body in their field or have secured a grant from an organisation listed as an endorsed funder or approved research organisation.
