I created a book illustrating the poems of historic Czech Writer, Karel Jaromir Erben.

I decided to work on this project because whilst the author is considered an important historic figure in my country, the younger generation is not interested in his work and has often never read it despite it being taught in schools. I would like to think that a new and interesting version of the book can raise awareness of this poet and interest people once again to read this masterpiece. As I am more interested in Graphic design rather than illustration one, I decided to physically create a book which will be book bound together.

'Kytice' means "a bouquet" in English and I've created 13 illustrations for each of the poems in the collection. All illustrations are created with flowers that could be growing in the places described in the individual poems.

The poems are translated to English by Marcela Malek Sulak.
