Project Pop-Up: Goose Comes Home

“Project Pop-Up: Goose Comes Home” is a 2020 Digital Graduate Show project by Sarah Melville, a student at Abertay University.

Synopsis

A series of fun and exciting pop-ups combined with a story following the adventure of Goose the kitten arriving in his brand-new forever home. Sometimes change and new environments can be rather scary and a bit daunting for everyone to begin with. Goose discovers that this change isn’t such a bad one after all and even meets a new friend for life along the way.

The final piece of this project has been created through a process of experimentation, trial and error and trying out a variety of different fold techniques in order to create interesting structures and shapes.

Project Pop-Up: Goose Comes Home

Motivation

I've always enjoyed illustrative work but during our computer art practice project in year three I was tempted into trying out some pop-up work. I found it to be really satisfying in the end seeing the illustrations and pops combined jumping from the page. This lead me into wanting to try taking it further than just the three pages I'd tried before.
