Virtual Classroom - Educational Game

I wanted to create an educational game that can be used in a primary school classroom. The game focuses on mathematics and memory. Each level is split into two; level 1 and level 2. Level 1 is suited for children in primary’s 1-4 and level 2 is suited for children in primary classes 5-7.

As my research project was looking at the benefits of using video games in the classroom, I wanted to create a game that I feel would have educational benefits. The game has a companion character that will help the player whenever they request, this symbolises a teacher in a classroom.

Virtual Classroom - Educational Game

Virtual classroom is my honours project. I wanted to create an educational game for use in a primary school classroom. The game focuses on maths and memory.

“Virtual Classroom - Educational Game” is a 2020 Digital Graduate Show project by Samuel Lambie, a student at Abertay University.

Motivation

When deciding on what topic my honours project would evolve around, I came across loads of articles/links etc about how bad games are to society. As a gamer I wanted to help improve this reputation and I felt showing the benefits that games can have would help. This is when I came across studies that have been done to show how games can help in education. I wanted to replicate this project to see if the problems that occurred during the previous studies would be replicated in my study.
