Synopsis
By mixing augmented reality and procedural terrain generation with traditional miniature games, Augment Your Battle showcases how combining the physical and digital can make our favourite miniature war-gaming experiences more engaging, streamlined and interactive, while preserving the precise tactical placement of handcrafted models we need to play our best.
Augment Your Battle is an Augmented Reality (AR) Application developed with the Unreal Engine which makes use of Procedural Generation Techniques to generate a piece of 3D terrain which is overlaid onto the real world. It was developed as an examination into whether the miniature wargame Warhammer 40,000 could be improved by augmentation with digital elements generated and displayed with a mobile augmented reality app.
The digital terrain would act as a replacement for the physical terrain players would need to construct before games and would allow for games to begin much faster by simply generating one at the touch of a button.

Motivation
When deciding what I would like to do for my Honours Project, I was sent an article by a lecturer talking about using AR to augment the card game 'Magic the Gathering'. I was interested in the idea and thought it would be a worthwhile project to investigate applying the augmentation of physical games with digital components. I have long been a fan of the Warhammer 40,000 universe and war games, so it seemed like a logical choice to pursue for my project.
