Life Size is a Norse-themed short story about a blossoming friendship between a Viking girl named Sonja and a massive giant who lives in the mountains. Sonja has lost her family and the giant helps to take her back to her village, all the while being tracked by other dangers on their journey. This project focuses on the development of the story’s visual style with a focus on the character designs, along with objects and environments that would be seen in the story. The book itself shows and explains the design process and the rules made to keep a consistent visual style. This project was heavily inspired by animated films such as Klaus, Tangled and How to Train your Dragon.
'Behind the Scenes' content and Concept Art have always been a strong interest of mine, seeing how everything in a creative project came together is amazing to see! I have bought art books of my favorite animated films and video games for years now, which has led to an interest in creating my own art and creative projects. Life Size has been the brain child of these interests and I am excited to finally show it to people!
“"Life Size" Visual Development Art Book” is a 2021 Digital Graduate Show project by Reece Kelly, a Computer Arts student at Abertay University.
