Exploring the interpretation of a likeness of a real-world person from hyper-realistic to stylised in video games

'Exploring the interpretation of a likeness of a real-world person from hyper-realistic to stylised in video games' is a 2023 Digital Graduate Show project by Lenka Osadolor, a Computer Arts student at Abertay University.

Synopsis

Throughout my honours project, I learned about the important technical aspects of creating a stylised, game-ready character. I started with Metahuman Creator, a powerful tool that gives the 3D artist a chance to take the model into a higher level of detail. Then I used ZBrush to sculpt the likeness and got a semi-realistic result that was satisfactory for my abilities. As the last and most important step, I started working on the stylised character, using the face features of the original person but this time in exaggerated proportions to get the desired outcome. The stylised model was inspired by an African God ‘Shango’, to give the whole character more uniqueness.
