Monster Mayhem: The Punchout

How does art style impact the approach to animation? Does game genre create limitations for how an art style can look? This project is dissecting these questions through the development of a character for the fighting game genre. This project focuses on 2D animation, and as such will require a mixture of trial and error of art styles to find the one that works best for my practise as well as the production of a 2D fighting game. This project will create a variety of different fighting movements and showcase them through a demonstration level.

Project Motivation

My interest for 2D animation, specifically SkullGirls. As a 2D games animator in a very 3D-centered climate, I wanted to showcase how 2D can still be present in games. I wanted to highlight the benefits of 2D animation, and how it can add something visually to games that 3D games lack.
