Motivate the player in Level Design

The vision for this project is to explore how to make motivate the player to explore the game with level design. I intend to create a white box demo using Unreal 4/5 with basic combat and inventory. The reason for me to choose this topic is because of Legend of Zelda and Elden Ring. Both games introduce different design methods compared to other open-world games like Witcher 3 or Assassin’s Creed Series. These two games have limited UI guidance and have a strong focus on exploration. Besides that, I want to be a level designer for an open-world project after I graduate. My goal is to create a playable demo to explore further in this topic. It will be a level for about 10-15 minutes of playtime demo. I want to develop my knowledge in level design, architecture design, and skills to create a playable demo. With this project, I can gain more understanding in the field of level design.
