Playing Without Control

This project focuses on the control and agency players are given when it comes to playing video games, as well as how they can adapt to a game when they have varying degrees of control over their character. Studies have shown that players enjoy games when they have complete influence and control over their actions, as well as when they find the controls themselves intuitive and satisfying to use.

This project explores if a similar level of enjoyment can be reached when players must play without control over basic functions, such as jumping in platforming games.

Motivation

Video games have been one of the biggest aspects of my life, especially games like platformers. I'm hugely passionate about challenging existing concepts and approaches to games and I'm constantly striving to understand how games are percieved by people. I created this project to further my passion for this as I wanted to explore how player experience can be influenced.
