Synopsis
'Project Fading Light' is a concept art project exploring the design development of genderless fantasy characters. I decided to combine my common interests in games, characters and representation - focusing on my passions to create a set of characters for a fictional game. The decision to merge 'genderlessness' with fantasy theme was purely personal. I wanted to challenge myself and see how developing a character non-conforming to gendered stereotypes might influence my design decisions. I intend for my characters to appear as original characters with their own life, aspirations and goals, but also from a technical standpoint, I want to make sure my concept's presentation is clear to the viewer, getting all of my ideas across.

'Project Fading Light' is a 2023 Digital Graduate Show project by Dasa Falisova, a Computer Arts student at Abertay University.
Project Motivation
I was heavily influenced by my own work over the past couple of years at Abertay. I feel like 3rd year was definitely the biggest turning point, where I had multiple chances to develop many concepts that were quite game-focused. It definitely helped to put myself on the right path and this Honours project gave me the option to fully personalise my work. I wanted to make sure I was working on something that I thoroughly enjoy. And as you may have guessed by 'Project Fading Light', I'm a big fan of fantasy adventure titles and fun creature-like designs!
