Projecting Future Military Equipment Through the Lens of Halo

My Honours project is a series of game assets depicting what the future equipment of the British Army could look like if the MOD took inspiration from Microsoft Corporation's HALO Game Franchise. The artefacts created for this project have been designed with function over form. I looked at the function of the kit in use and built around the designs, whilst aiming to capture the essence of the UNSC in HALO. Assets include two character models, a vehicle and a weapon. The character models are influenced by the Marine and ODST designs from HALO 3. The vehicle is a mix of the British FV101 and the Scorpion Tank from HALO 3. And, the weapon model is mostly inspired by the SA80 A3, with some additional attachments to the weapon - looking closely at the Assault Rifle from HALO Infinite.

Project Motivation

This project takes deep inspiration from my time in the Reserves. I’ve had a decent level of exposure to real military kit and I’ve got a good feeling for how a realistic representation of the concepts established in the Halo IP would look if they were designed today, with the current visual aesthetic of modern day conventional Army equipment in mind.
