Creating Narratively Conscious Clothing for Game Characters

“Creating Narratively Conscious Clothing for Game Characters” is a 2021 Digital Graduate Show project by Conor Phillips, a Computer Arts student at Abertay University.

Synopsis

In this project, I will be analysing the creation of clothing and costume design within video games, as well as the methodology in which industry professionals use. I will be exploring costume design within the real world and exploring implementation methods of creating clothing within games. From this, I will be exploring costume design and how further investigation of this topic can increase the storytelling value of the characters and provide tools for the narrative. I shall be exploring a variety of different clothing designs from different mediums and further exploring the different narrative pathways I can embed into the costume design.
