Idle Things

Synopsis

The primary focus of my project is to make a long-form ambient cinematic video depicting various 3D environments from a world I have created. My world is titled "Idle Things". Post-production, the video will be posted on YouTube. The video should evoke an emotional reaction in the viewer and provide a space of mental solitude. I will explore what makes a cinematic experience emotionally therapeutic to the viewer, and research the psychology of "Ambient" YouTube video viewers to better understand the intentions of the audience who watch popular ambience videos. Also, I will explore questions and problems regarding my technical 3D practice, especially with concern to current and changing industry standards.

What motivated you to develop/create this project?

Ambience videos have potential to emotionally engage an audience the same way movies do, and I wanted to explore the possibilities of this.

What has been a highlight of your time at Abertay?

Finally figuring out what I'm going to do with my life and learning UE5!

What are your hopes and future ambitions for after graduation?

I would love to work in 3D environment art, and eventually make movies. I'm using Ridley Scott as a reference for this (he started out in advertising before becoming a filmmaker).
