Cybersecurity world to descend on Abertay University for major conference

Top industry speakers will be among the crowd for next month's S-COM conference

The Abertay cyberQuarter will play host to a global cybersecurity exhibition next month as S-COM makes its debut in Scotland.

The event, organised by cybersecurity company Core to Cloud, brings together experts in cybersecurity and IT to learn about the newest cyber solutions and developments in the industry.

The annual conference is scheduled for Thursday 9 November 2023 at the Abertay cyberQuarter, a cyber research and development centre based at the University.

As well as the main conference, attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in various interactive workshops, panel discussions, crisis simulators and networking events throughout the one-day event.

Core to Cloud recently announced its expansion into Scotland with major contract wins to deliver ongoing cybersecurity support and training to NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES).

The company will be taking up office space at the Abertay cyberQuarter, using the building as a central hub for its Scottish operations and projects. Through this partnership Core to Cloud will benefit from access to the academic knowledge of Abertay’s Division of Cybersecurity and will have the opportunity to engage with students emerging from the institution's Ethical Hacking and Cybersecurity programmes.

James Cunningham, CEO of Core to Cloud, said:

Working with NHS National Services Scotland and NHS Education for Scotland seemed like a natural next step for our business. Core to Cloud already provides online protection to over a quarter of NHS Trusts in England and Wales so to be able to expand our cybersecurity services into the health service in Scotland is a real privilege. Now with our new office in Dundee, we’re perfectly positioned to provide ongoing support to local trusts as well as the wider Scotland community from education, retail to business and other blue light services. It’s exciting times for Core to Cloud as we look to invest and grow the business in the north of the UK.

Professor Lynne Coventry, Director of the Abertay cyberQuarter, said:

We’re delighted to be welcoming Core to Cloud to their new Scottish home in Abertay cyberQuarter and to be hosting SCOM23 for the first time. Bringing the cybersecurity industry together for networking and collaboration events like this is an important part of our work as we continue to drive forward R&D, innovation and economic growth for the sector and attract new partners to locate here in Dundee.

S-COM23 is free to attend and runs from 1pm to 5pm on Thursday 9 November 2023 in Dundee.
