Here you will find information on all of our upcoming online events for international students. 

The Information Sessions will cover the various tasks and deadlines you need to be aware of. Such as:

  • CAS Shield

  • Visa information

  • Financial requirements

  • Accommodation

  • Plus more...

The Spotlight Sessions feature a variety of services and teams at Abertay University showcasing what they offer and specialise in. We will have guests from our Careers Team, Abertay Students' Association, Abertay Sport and the Counselling Team joining us across these events.

Finally, the Pre-Departure events are designed to help prepare you for coming to Scotland; how to plan your journey, what to pack and bring with you and what to do once you arrive in Dundee. We will also cover important dates, deadlines and other crucial information that you will hopefully find useful.

June 2024

International Information Session 1: 

When: This event was held on Monday 3rd June. Please find the recording of the session below.

In our first Information Session of the year, we invite all of our International applicants to join us for a run through of the next few months of activities, deadlines and tasks that you need to be aware of. We will also cover advice and guidance on all current aspects of the application — CAS Shield, the financial requirements such as the deposit, accommodation and any UKVI updates that have been released. There will also be time for questions at the end, so please join us for a jam packed session!

PG Offer Holder Information Session:

When: This event was held on Friday 21st June. Please find the recording of the session below.

Join us for an information session exclusively for our postgraduate offer holders. We will cover all of the important aspects of the next few months before classes start in September and there will be significant time given for a Q&A session at the end. While there will not be any academics at this webinar, we will soon be sharing the recordings from the Online PG Offer Holder Event that took place in March for you to view at your leisure.

International Information Session 2: 

When: This event was held on Monday 24th June. Please find the recording of the session below.

In our second information session, we look at the timetable of the next 2 months ahead of you joining us on campus in September. We will also introduce our brand new Spotlight series, showcasing a number of services at Abertay that you have access to as a student studying with us. We encourage you to make the most of these services while you study here.

July 2024

Spotlight Session - Accommodation: 

Date: Tuesday 2nd July

Time: 2:00pm BST (UTC+1)

Where: Microsoft Teams

In this session, we will focus on Accommodation, the options available in our Halls of Residence and private rental in Dundee through Student Lettings Agents. There will be time for Q&A at the end.

Spotlight Session - Abertay Sport: 

Date: Monday 8th July

Time: 2:00pm BST (UTC+1)

Where: Microsoft Teams

In our first Spotlight Session of the series, we are joined by the Abertay Sport department and you will hear from our Sport Development Officer, Mikey Devlin. Mikey will tell you all about the different sports facilities we have, the sport clubs and how to join them, and the competitions and leagues our sports teams compete in. There will be time for Questions at the end of the presentation.

Spotlight Session - Abertay Students' Association: 

Date: Monday 15th July

Time: 2:00pm BST (UTC+1)

The Students' Association (The SA) will join us for our second Spotlight Session and will shed light on everything they organise, run and support with. In the week before your classes start, the SA run a huge welcome event called "Freshers Week". You will hear from our incredible SA Team all about Freshers' Week, the clubs and societies you can join, campaigns that you can get involved in and all other services and help that the SA offer to our study body.

Spotlight Session - Wellbeing and Support: 

Date: Monday 22nd July

Time: 2:00pm BST (UTC+1)

For our third Spotlight Session, one of our Student Counsellors, Hilary McNally, will detail the specialist offering provided by the Counselling and Mental Health Service. For anyone who is facing challenges or uncertainties during their studies, the Counselling and Mental Health Service can be a friendly and confidential space for you to share your worries, without judgement. Please join us to hear how this service can help you and what to do if you feel you need support in this area.

Spotlight Session - Careers Service: 

Date: Friday 26th July

Time: 2:00pm BST (UTC+1)

Where: Microsoft Teams

For our final Spotlight Session, Stephen Morrison, our Careers Service Manager will take you through everything that the Careers Service can help you with. We are often asked about how students can find jobs during their studies, how to start preparing for their Career after University, if we have anyone that can help, and we absolutely do. The Careers Service is a fantastic team of Advisors and Careers Specialists who will work with you to help you achieve your career goals.

August 2024

International Information Session 3: 

Date: Wednesday 7 August

Time: 2:00pm BST (UTC+1)

Where: Microsoft Teams

During this Information Session, we will take a close look at the final tasks and actions to be completed within the next month and what to do if you need support or help. The upcoming deadline of the deposit payment will be discussed and there will also be a final reminder to submit your proof of funds via a bank statement. We welcome all International offer holders for all levels of study and there will be time at the end for a Q&A.

Pre-Departure Briefing 1: 

Date: Thursday 8 August

Time: 2:00pm BST (UTC+1)

Where: Microsoft Teams

The first Pre-Departure Briefing will be held on Teams for all offer holders who are either awaiting their CAS or have already received their CAS. This session will cover all aspects about preparing for joining Abertay in September, what to bring with you, which airports are recommended to travel to and other logistics that will help you plan your journey. Other information will be shared about Freshers' Week, arriving in Dundee and what you may want to do when you arrive. We welcome parents and guardians to join us in this session and there will be time at the end to tackle any and all questions.

International Information Session 4: 

Date: Friday 16 August

Time: 10:00am BST (UTC+1)

Where: Microsoft Teams

We will be running another information session to cover all important aspects of the final tasks and actions to be completed before the upcoming deadlines of paying the deposit and completing all conditions and CAS Shield, ready to receive your CAS. We welcome all international offer holders at all levels of study to join us.

We are hosting a drop in session for anyone to come along and ask us their questions. We won't run an information session during this, there will be no presentation, but the International Team will be online and ready to help with any queries, issues or problems you are currently facing. We also welcome parents and guardians to use this time to connect with our team for any further assistance.
