Computer Games Courses

Where will our computer games courses take you?

Computer games courses – industry expertise

Studying one of the computer games courses at Abertay University is the first step towards a rewarding career in one of the most exciting creative industries. Abertay graduates have gone on to work for leading computer games companies – including Sony, Microsoft, Electronic Arts, Rockstar North and 4J Studios.

Our computer games courses focus on the skills the industry needs and what it needs from graduates. Students at Abertay work on real team projects, developing the project planning and teamwork skills essential to games companies.

Computer games courses – the Centre for Excellence

As well as launching the world's first named computer games degree, Abertay is at the centre of Dundee's thriving computer games industry. Our students now work in the Centre for Excellence in Computer Games Education, a new studio-based learning environment filled with the latest technology.

Working closely with lecturers and students across different courses, you will be required to produce real, interactive games in the same environment that games companies work in. Unlike many other games degrees, at Abertay you will make games right from the start.

Computer games courses – jobs

A number of students on our computer games courses undertake work experience at one of Dundee's successful games companies during their holidays, making them even more attractive to employers. Our graduates work across the UK and the world in leading companies.

After graduation, typical job titles in your career include Game Designer, Game Programmer, Project Manager or Creative Director. Graduates also move on to become Software Engineers in companies building games and other applications.
