Leading international counselling conference comes to Abertay for the first time

Abertay will co-host the 28th Annual BACP Research Conference

Abertay will welcome the British Association for Psychology and Counselling (BACP) to Dundee next week as the University co-hosts the 28th Annual BACP Research Conference.

The BACP is the professional association for members of the counselling profession and each year a conference is held to allow researchers and practitioners to come together to exchange ideas and share learning and network with other delegates.

This year’s hybrid conference will take place in person at the Apex City Quay Hotel on 19 and 20 May with delegates also having the option to attend virtually. ‘Striving for equality, diversity and inclusion in research, practice and policy’ is this year’s theme.

Dr Kate Smith, Head of Division of Health Sciences at Abertay, is a trustee of the BACP and chairs its Research Committee. She said:

“I’m delighted that Abertay is co-hosting this year’s BACP Research Conference which is the first to be held in Dundee. There’s an exciting programme of presentations, workshops and symposia and I’m looking forward to hearing how the counselling profession intends to embed equality, diversity and inclusion in everything it does. It’s also really positive that Abertay students and staff will be presenting at the conference which gives them the opportunity to network with professionals and hear about the challenges and opportunities facing the industry.”

Abertay staff and students with an interest in, or studying, health sciences are welcome to attend the conference. Book your place on the BACP website.
