My degree from Abertay provided me with a firm foundation to spring board my career. It got me into a competitive job market at a great starting position. Turning down offers from two universities in Northern Ireland, I chose to travel to Scotland and study at Abertay based on its reputation and strength in Computer Science.
After travelling, I gained employment as a Software Engineer. Working at Datos for over seven years gaining two promotions; Technical Manager and Technical PM. I then gained employment as a Consultant with Sanderson PLC, delivering Enterprise Resource Planning projects UK wide. With over two years completed, I decided it was time for my next challenge.
There are two main aspects to my role, functional engagement with the business at leadership team and senior management level and building a business analysis team.
The core purpose of the team is to work across all functions to investigate, analyse, review and document business functions, processes and information flows. Working in a highly regulated industry, business requirements and processes need to be seamless with IT solutions.

Abertay is a university that reinvests capital to the betterment of its students. The library facilities at Abertay are second to none and the Student Centre, which was built during my time is world class. My part time job at university allowed me to integrate to the Dundonian community and has left me with friends for life.
Be individual, work hard from day one, go above and beyond and then ensure you get recognised for it. LinkedIn is your brand. The world is a small place, recommendations, endorsements, mutual connections, known projects, publications and establishing yourself as a person of note in your field will go a long way.
I want it all from my career! My new role is a good challenge with lots of exciting hard work ahead. It’s hard to look beyond it currently, however, I aspire to a CIO role where I can shape ICT strategy, policy and put my organisation skills and strategizing for the future to the test.
